BEIJING DAY 3 - EL TEL AND MATCHDAY

Crazy day in China, today Terry Venables arrived to represent Barclays as an ambassador, and it was the first two matches of the Barclays Asia Trophy. El Tel landed at 7am and was straight down to business. Beijing Morning Post, Beijing Times, Titan Weekly and China Daily had a two hour sit down with England's legendary ex manager. Terry was great, and really enjoyed the interviews. The media here, as I mentioned, have a very different approach to the UK, very respectful and insightful, with interviews usually lasting two hours!

In the afternoon we held a fan's forum and photo shoot at the Worker's Stadium, and then headed over to Barclays' hospitality for the evening. This was a fantastic restaurant on the edge of the stadium complex, with great food, the perfect place to host and entertain clients. First match of the competition wasTottenham v West Ham, a decent enough game in really humid conditions, with Spurs beting their London rivals 1-0. Then it was time for local team Beijing Gu'oan, who received an amazing reception from the local fans. They were playing Hull City, who beat them on penalties, to set up a Spurs v Hull final this Friday. Another busy but enjoyable day in China's capital.
