RACE DAY IN BIRMINGHAM - PART 2

Well, the EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon is over for another year after a brilliant race day in Birmingham which combined the IAAF/EDF Energy World Half Marathon Championships. Despite the drizzle, more than 60,000 people turned out to support the 10,000 runners who were sent on their way by Dame Kelly Holmes. The city was absolutely electric all day and the media centre a hive of activity, no more so than when a group of about 40 Eritrean fans waited for the end of a press conference to greet their national hero, Zersanay Tadese, who claimed the World Half Marathon title for a fourth consecutive year, clocking an incredible time of 59:35.
