You're not tweeting anymore!

Lexis PR creates infographic illustrating activity on Twitter during January transfer window

A quick search on Twitter revealed that just under a million people tweeted about Barclays Premier League teams during the January transfer window, showing that football banter is moving to the virtual world. Sadly, if I had a pound for every tweet, I'd still be £49m short of the record breaking £50m transfer fee for Fernando Torres for his move from Liverpool FC to Chelsea FC (which was the focus of the majority of these tweets).

After discovering this sudden influx in tweets, we decided to dig a little deeper using Sysomo's Media Analysis Platform (MAP) and created the Barclays Premier League Tweet Map infographic for our client Barclays, the title sponsor of the Premier League. The infographic illustrates which teams and cities were the centre of the Twitter-sphere throughout January, showing the ever-growing influence of Twitter amongst football fans.

So far, the Barclays Premier League Tweet Map has featured on key social media trends, sports and tech blogs and websites in addition to national newspapers and national online sites including The Mirror, The Metro, MailOnline, WhoAteAllThePies and Pocket-Lint. It's also generated enough tweets to create an infographic about the campaign itself!

It's no secret that infographics are really effective way of presenting data in an informative, visually compelling way. But it's difficult to know what makes an infographic successful. There's a great blog post on Hongkiat.com called 50 informative and well-designed infographics which features some cracking infographics if you're ever looking for inspiration.
