RUNNERS STEP UP A GEAR FOR EDF ENERGY BIRMINGHAM HALF MARATHON

With just one month left until the EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon 'Race Against Climate Change', runners have been busy stepping up their training regimes to get in shape for the big race.

Race sustainability consultant and professional Ironman triathlete Toby Radcliffe held a session yesterday with Athletics Weekly and is putting Birmingham media and ex-England footballer Geoff Thomas through their paces this afternoon...

9,500 runners have already signed up for the race on October 11, while all participants are being encouraged to sign up to EDF Energy's online sustainability training programme, Team Green Britain (www.teamgreenbritain.org), to find out more on how to live a greener lifestyle. Furthermore, the race is aiming to become the first sustainable event of its kind in Europe, accredited by the Council for Responsible Sport.
