The Royal Spanish Golf Federation has today confirmed that Valdeloshielos Finca Tres Cantos will be the venue for the 2018 Ryder Cup if the Community of Madrid is chosen as the winner of the prestigious golf tournament.
The area on which the course will be constructed is municipal property and is located in the west of Tres Cantos, with an area of approximately two hundred twenty-eight acres (228 ha).
The chosen site is located just 26km from Madrid and visitors would be able to travel from course to city centre in half an hour.
Spain is the primary golf tourism destination in Europe with more than 500,000 trips per year. In Europe, golf tourism represents more than 1.6 million trips per year of which nearly 60% are international.
Madrid are competing for the right to host the 2018 Ryder Cup alongside France, Germany, Netherlands, Portugal and Sweden.
