Barclays Premier League trophy visits Bristol

We were out and about in the West Country last week as we took the Barclays Premier League trophy to Bristol as part of the Barclays Home Win competition, which gave Barclays Premier League fans the chance to win the trophy for a day.

Ellie Ewens, a Counter Manager at Barclays Keynsham branch, won the staff section of the competition and chose to share her day with three local schools in East Bristol. We began the day at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Primary School in Whitchurch before moving on the The Grange School & Sports College in Warmely, and finished the day at Barr’s Court Primary School in Longwell Green.

Despite the fact that Bristol has not yet been home to a Barclays Premier League club, the trophy was greeted by a huge amount of excitement all day long as pupils and staff appeared in droves to have their photos taken with the silverware. Ellie was delighted that the opportunity clearly meant so much to so many children and that she’d been able to share her good fortune so widely.

Barclays launched the 'Barclays Home Win' competition to celebrate its renewal of the Barclays Premier League sponsorship from 2010 - 2013. One fan from each Barclays Premier League club has won the privilege of hosting the trophy for a day at their home or other location of their choice.

After its trip to Bristol, the trophy will now be heading off around the world to far-flung destinations including Indonesia, Zambia, New Zealand and the USA to be enjoyed by the remaining winners.
