European Team secure dramatic win over USA in the Ryder Cup

The Ryder Cup Madrid 2018 Bid Team were out in force at Celtic Manor last weekend to help promote the Spanish candidacy and watch the European Team reclaim the Ryder Cup following a dramatic four days in the Wales. Madrid 2018 supporters José María Olazábal, Sergio Garcia and Miguel Ángel Jiménez were on hand to watch Europe's Graeme McDowell seal victory for Europe in the final match, after Jiménez himself had won his earlier singles match to take Europe to within touching distance of the Samuel Ryder trophy.

Extreme wet weather on the Friday and Sunday ensured almost a day's play was lost and meant the tournament finished on a Monday for the first time in its history, calling into question the decision to host the Ryder Cup in Wales so late in the year. The Madrid 2018 bid team have championed the agreeable weather conditions in the Spanish capital at this time of year, and are confident that the issues that faced the organisers at Celtic Manor would not re-surface should Spain be awarded the event in 2018.

Following yesterday's result, European captain Colin Montgomerie has tipped Spanish legend José María Olazábal to succeed him when the Ryder Cup heads to the Medinah Country Club in Chicago in two years' time, but for now the celebrations continue for Monty's men at Celtic Manor. Congratulations to Miguel Ángel Jiménez and the rest of the European Team. Let's hope we seen similar scenes in Madrid in 2018!
